Mental Health

Let’s raise a glass!

Hey Me!

Can you believe it’s been five years since we started this incredible journey as Stress Matters? As I sit down to write this letter, I’m overflowing with excitement and pride at the progress we’ve made in transforming the way we view workplace wellbeing.

Remember those days when talking openly about stress and mental health felt like an uphill battle? We knew then that breaking the stigma required a change in mindset—a change that would ripple across individuals, businesses, and entire industries. Well, guess what? It happened! OK, a pandemic may have helped speed along the conversation – but let’s take some silver linings.  Our collective efforts have changed the conversation around mental health in the workplace.

I’m thrilled that open discussions about mental health are no longer hushed whispers in the office corridors. They are genuine, heartfelt conversations. The strategic approach we envisioned has become a reality – not for all admittedly but many.

Companies, big and small, are tailoring solutions to meet the unique needs of their employees. We have clients that have over 15,000 employees and clients that have less than 15 – it’s no longer seen as a checkbox item; they are pushing to understand their team and what they can do to support them in a sustainable way.

By spreading knowledge, we’ve fostered a culture of understanding and support and yes, there are many people and businesses that still harbour stigma, so many are using their growth mindsets and are learning a new way of thinking to come up with the right solutions for them and their colleagues.  These people are now becoming the advocates of tomorrow.

I’m raising a virtual toast to us. Here’s to the progress we’ve made and the even brighter future ahead. Let’s continue to champion workplace wellbeing, ensuring that every individual feels supported, valued, and empowered.

Catch you in the future, my friend!

Warmest regards,

Laura x

Video games have long been the source of debate when it comes to their impact on mental health. Most believe that gaming offers no benefits and it only leads to violence and social isolation. It doesn’t help that there are studies, albeit a bit biased, that back up those misconceptions.  So, why are people drawn […]

Step by Step: Where yoga and jogging took me

Looking back at my wellbeing journey, I never imagined that jogging and yoga would become a big part. While fitness had always piqued my interest, I struggled to find motivation amidst my busy life. I’m like a ninja at the gym– you’ll never find me there! Joking aside, I did try going to the gym […]

Can morning routines, anti-depressants and Taylor Swift be considered self care?

Looking after yourself and your mental health looks extremely different for everyone. And this is something that has become increasingly clear since my time working at Stress Matters. All of us are so different and that really is the beauty of wellbeing – it is not a one-size-fits-all approach and we all need to find […]
